Choose public transport when it fits your arrival
Changi鈥檚 official transport guide lists trains, buses, taxis and other transport options. The MRT route from Changi Airport station includes a change at Tanah Merah for the East West Line towards the city. Check current operating times and the final connection to your accommodation before relying on rail for a late arrival.
Compare a taxi with a booked transfer
Changi Airport鈥檚 current guidance lists an airport surcharge of S$8 for trips from 5:00pm to 11:59pm and S$6 at other times. A separate midnight surcharge of 50% of the metered fare applies from 12:00am to 5:59am; peak-hour surcharges may also apply. Flag-down, distance and waiting charges vary by taxi company, so recheck the current tariff before budgeting. Most bus and MRT services do not operate all night; if public transport has ended, taxis and private-hire cars are available 24 hours from all terminals. For a booked transfer, check vehicle size, waiting allowance, meeting point, flight-delay policy and extra stops; compare the total confirmed fare and conditions, not a starting-from amount. Count luggage as well as passengers
Send the provider the actual passenger count and number of large bags before selecting the vehicle. Ask about child seats or wheelchair arrangements where relevant. A nominal passenger capacity does not guarantee enough luggage space. Keep the operator鈥檚 contact details and pickup instructions available offline.
